Vehicle stolen from Avis Car Rental recovered – Thief goes to jail

NEEDLES, Calif – On Saturday, November 16 at 8:21 p.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Colorado River Station/Needles Police initiated a traffic stop on a reported stolen vehicle from Avis Car Rental, at the I-40 and East Broadway Street in Needles. Deputies detained the driver, identified as Van Viet Doan (age 31 of Garden Grove) and his female passenger without incident.

The female was determined not to be involved and was released at the scene.

During the course of the investigation, Van Viet Doan was detained and subsequently arrested for possession of stolen property. He was transported to the Needles Jail and booked for possession of stolen property, Vehicle. Doan's bail was set at $50,000 and he is currently in custody awaiting his court date.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
