Man injured after crash at Lovekin and Chanslorway
October 29, 2019
BLYTHE, Calif – On Saturday, October 26 at about 9:42 in the morning, Blythe Police Dispatch received several 911calls regarding an injury traffic collision at the intersection of Lovekin Blvd and Chanslorway. Officers from the Blythe Police Department arrived and found that a Red Ford F-150 and a Silver Chevrolet Pick-up truck had been involved in the traffic collision. The Ford was driven by 59-year-old Guy Gnatek of Blythe and the Chevrolet was driven by 70-year-old Alexander Naranjo of Blythe.
While the investigation is ongoing it appeared that Gnatek was driving the Ford southbound on Lovekin Blvd approaching the Chanslorway intersection. Gnatek had a green light and proceeded through the intersection. Naranjo was driving the Chevrolet westbound on Chanslorway approaching the intersection of Lovekin Blvd. Naranjo failed to stop at the red traffic light and entered into the intersection where the Chevrolet collided with the Ford. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in this collision.
Gnatek suffered significant injuries and was air lifted to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment for his injuries. Naranjo refused medical treatment at the scene, but was later driven to Palo Verde Hospital by private vehicle. Both vehicles received major damage and were towed from the scene.
