Riverside County activates department operations center in response to COVID-19 outbreak

March 8, 2020

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif – Riverside County has activated its department operations center (DOC) as it continues to ramp up the response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The DOC is being operated jointly by Riverside University Health System-Public Health and Riverside County Emergency Management Department.

Officials emphasized that there have been no confirmed locally acquired coronavirus cases in Riverside County. One Riverside County resident who was a passenger on a cruise ship near Japan recently tested positive for the illness, but they are being housed at a Northern California medical facility and have not been in Riverside County since being diagnosed.

“The establishment of the DOC will allow us to better coordinate our response to the spread of COVID-19 and provide the public with the latest and most accurate information about what we are doing to prepare and the illness itself,” said Kim Saruwatari, director of Public Health.

Riverside County has established a coronavirus webpage (www.rivcoph.org) to provide the community with the latest news and information about the illness.
