Increased school patrols in Needles

January 10, 2020

NEEDLES, Calif Beginning Wednesday, January 8, there will be an increased patrol presence in and around the schools in Needles as a result of a Safe Routes to School Grant received from the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health. The grant is a cooperative effort with the Department of Public Health, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, the City of Needles and the Needles School District.

The focus is to provide a safe environment for children going to and from school, enforce traffic laws near the schools, promote drug use prevention and work with school officials to address any security issues within the schools.

The additional patrols will continue through the end of the school year and include the following locations: Vista Colorado Elementary School, Needles Middle School, Needles High School, and Community Day School.

These cooperative efforts are part of the Sheriff's Department commitment to ensuring a safe community for our children.
