Embezzlement at the Twentynine Palms Public Cemetery

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif – On Thursday, January 2 at 11:30 am, San Bernardino County Sheriff deputies responded to the Twentynine Palms Public Cemetery at 5350 Encelia Ave, Twentynine Palms, after getting a report of an embezzlement.

During the investigation, deputies discovered the manager, Stacey Lynn Lee (age 50 of Twentynine Palms), used the Cemetery’s Credit/Debit Card, without authorization, to purchase miscellaneous items and make ATM withdrawals totaling over $17,000 since September 2019.

On Tuesday, January 7, deputies served a search warrant at Lee’s residence, and recovered several items belonging to the Cemetery. Lee was arrested and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for embezzlement.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
