Attempted murder

NEEDLES, Calif – On Tuesday, April 28 at 11:52 p.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Colorado River Sheriff’s station / Needles Police Department responded to the area of W. Needles Highway and M. Street after getting a report of a shooting.

Deputies located the victim, who was suffering from two gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by ambulance to Havasu Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was identified as Andrew Weekley (29 of Needles). On Wednesday, April 29 at about 2:30 p.m., Weekley was located at a residence in the 200 block of Chestnut Street in Needles and taken into custody. He was booked into the Colorado River Station jail for attempted murder and is being held on $1,000,000 bail pending a court hearing.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
