BLYTHE, Calif On Thursday September 20, at about 10:45 in the morning, Blythe Police responded to a report of a non-injury traffic on N. Main Street near Blythe Drug with a downed power line.

When they arrived, they found that the line, which had run from the east side of Blythe Drug to a wooden power pole on the east side of the roadway, had been struck by a passing Public Works vehicle. The large vehicle, which is used for work on the sewer system, has a boom on top, which appeared to catch the power line as the vehicle passed southbound under it. The power line was pulled free from the building, and the wooden pole was broken off at the base.

The driver was not injured, and there did not appear to be any damage to the Public Works vehicle. The owners of three vehicles which were parked next to the business reported minor damage to their vehicles, caused by the falling power line.

Anyone with information regarding this case, or any other crime, is urged to contact the Blythe Police Department at 922-6111 or they can give their information anonymously by calling Crime Stop at 921-CARE (2273) or by E-Mail.
