Theft of Tools on Riverside Drive

May 14, 2012

BLYTHE, Calif – On Tuesday May 8 at 6:37 in the morning, the Blythe Police Department responded to a residence 3500 block of Riverside Drive, in regard to a theft of tools where the responding officer found that the tools had been taken from a locked storage unit at the location.

The tools belonged to several different tradesmen working on a construction project in the area and were valued at approximately $6000.

Investigation by Blythe Police detectives led them to Steven Guy, age 44, of Blythe who residing in the 12000 block of Florence Blvd. He was interviewed, and ultimately admitted to committing the crime. Guy was booked into the Blythe Jail for Burglary.

A search of Guy’s residence was conducted, and several pieces of the stolen property were recovered. Additional property is still outstanding, and the case remains under investigation.

Our detective got right on this while it was fresh and did some great investigation work working most of the night and the next day tracking this thief down said Chief Steve Smith. “The theft took place in an area of low crime so this is just a reminder to lock everything and install cameras and alarms if you can to deter these crooks. Bright lights work good too. Great job by our detective!”

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
