March 16, 2012

BLYTHE, Calif On Thursday, March 15 at 6:37 in the evening Blythe Police Officers responded to the Sunrise Apartments located on North Palm after getting notified of a stabbing that had just occurred. The officers were informed that the suspect left in a blue truck southbound on Eucalyptus from the area.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male with a shaved head. The blue truck was located and stopped in the 200 block of N. Palm. Contact was made with the driver, 31 year old Sandra Ayala from Blythe and 28 year old Martin Gonzales also from Blythe.

The two subjects were detained while officers made contact with the victim, 33 year old Rafael Guido who was at Palo Verde Hospital receiving treatment for a stab wound to his leg. Guido stated he and Gonzales got into a fight. During the fight Gonzales stabbed him on the leg with a knife. After Gonzales left the area he was transported to the hospital by friends. Guido was treated and released from the hospital. His injury was not life threatening.

The Officers returned to the area of the vehicle stop and arrested Gonzales for assault with a deadly weapon. A search for the weapon used during the stabbing was conducted but not found in the vehicle. During the process of the investigation the officers learned that Ayala hid the weapon.
