Spring Registration Open at Palo Verde College

BLYTHE, Calif Ė Palo Verde College announces that registration for the Spring 2013 semester is now available through Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013. Both the main campus in Blythe and the Needles Center are offering an array of courses this semester to aid in any studentsí goal of earning a degree or just to further oneís educational experience.
This semester there are business courses that may be instrumental to small business owners, managers, and employees such as Marketing, Business Law, Business Mathematics, and Income Tax Procedures.
Those interested in criminal justice may be interested in the Crime Scene Investigation course and/or the Legal Aspects of Evidence course. If you are looking for the computer edge in the workforce then computer information science courses in Introduction to Computers, Animation Principles, and Advanced 3D Computer Animation might be the classes for you.
Psychology courses this semester go beyond general psychology and will continue to offer abnormal psychology in addition to Intro to Research Methods, Introduction to Statistical Analysis for the Social Sciences and Human Relations.
Other courses that are available during the Spring semester at Palo Verde College include speech, welding, Spanish, biology, economics, music, child development, theatre (Needles) and anthropology.
Many classes are also being offered online or as a Distance Education course. Online courses this Spring semester include Introduction to Biology; Business Communication; Marketing; American History I and II; Algebra (Elementary, Intermediate, and College); and World Literature. Some of the Distance Education courses are Principles of Accounting I and II; Substance Abuse in Special Populations; Pharma & Physio Effects of Addiction; Art History and Appreciation I and II; American Sign Language I and II; Reading and Composition; Introduction to Philosophy; Comparative World Religions; Elementary Spanish I and II; and Sports Psychology.
Tuition at Palo Verde College for California residents is $46 per unit and for Arizona residents (per guest agreement) cost is $92 per unit; state enrollment fees are included. All other non-residents costs are $179 per unit plus a $46 state enrollment fee. California residents, with or without a Bachelorís degree, may be eligible for a Board of Governors Waiver (BOGW) which will waive enrollment fees. To be eligible for BOGW you must be 1) a California resident; b) a student or studentís family is receiving AFDC, SSI or General Assistance/General Relief; or c) a student or studentís family is low-income; or 4) if you do not qualify by either of the previously mentioned methods and you have received your Student Aid Report (SAR) through FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), you may still be eligible to receive a BOGW.
Financial aid is also available to students who meet various criteria. For more information on FAFSA visit www.fafsa.ed.gov or speak to a Financial Aid representative at the main campus or at the Needles Center.
Potential students who receive federal cash aid in the form of AFDC (Aid to Families with Dependent Children) may also be eligible for the CalWORKS program that offers additional help such as babysitting and transportation vouchers.
Non-credit (free) courses such as Computers Made Simple; Folk Music; Excel spreadsheets; Creative Stitchery; Quick and Easy Crafts; Developmental English (English as a Second Language); Quilting; Cake Decoration (Needles); and Digital Photos Made Simple (Needles); will all be available in the Spring,
