BLYTHE, Calif On Wednesday August 29 Blythe Police investigated a theft of a lawn mower from the Sheltering Wings store on West Hobsonway. Surveillance video of the theft is available in the August 31 article, Sheltering Wings Robber Caught on Video.

On September 4, based on information from people who had viewed the video, Detectives from Blythe Police contacted Hector Lopez, age 48, of Blythe. Though he initially denied having any part in the theft, he admitted to the theft when shown the video.

Lopez stated he sold the lawn mower, and provided a description of the subject it was sold to. However, Detectives have not been able to locate that person yet, and the lawn mower is still outstanding.

Due to the value of the mower and location it was taken from the theft is a misdemeanor, and a complaint has been filed with the District Attorney requesting a theft charge.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Anyone with information regarding this case, or any other crime, is urged to contact the Blythe Police Department at 922-6111 or they can give their information anonymously by calling Crime Stop at 921-CARE (2273) or by E-Mail.
