Possible Sexual Assault by Visitor

BLYTHE, Calif On Tuesday September 11, at 8:11 in the evening Blythe Police responded to a report of a sexual assault in the 1300 Block of San Gorgonio. The victim reported that earlier in the morning she had been sleeping with her children in a room she rents at the residence when she awoke to find a male lying next to her.

She believes the male had assaulted her sexually. She yelled, and the male left the residence. The male was identified as Richard Ruiz, age 30, of Brawley. Ruiz had been allowed to stay at the residence for a few hours by the home owner, but was to sleep on a couch in the living room.

Information received by detectives indicates that Ruiz has returned to the Brawley area. The case will be submitted to the District Attorney with a request for an arrest warrant.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
