BLYTHE, Calif A check for $2,500 was recently presented to Ray Magana, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Blythe Senior Citizen Center and Harmony Soup Kitchen, that will allow the non-profit organization to continue providing free meals to those in need for the rest of the summer months. Palo Verde CEO Peter Klune and Board of Trustees President Jim Carney made this contribution official at the recent Healthcare Board meeting on Wednesday.

Harmony serves nutritious meals to those transients, senior citizens, migrants and other good folks that are in need five days a week during the morning hours. The Palo Verde Healthcare District has long been a supporter of such non-profit organizations whose aim is to alleviate food shortages and hunger with its area of operation. Both the Blythe Senior Citizen Center and the Blythe Food Pantry rely on such contributions of both cash and foodstuffs to fight hunger in the area.

The Harmony Board of Trustees, staff and volunteers that keep this particular Soup Kitchen in operation during these lean summer months would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Klune, CFO Dennis Rutherford and the Directors of the Healthcare District for their very generous donation.

Harmony opens its doors for anyone in need of a free, hot meal from 10:30 to 12:30 Monday through Friday at 219 South Main Street.
