Murder-for-Hire Plot

BLYTHE, Calif – On Thursday, February 2, 2012, the Blythe Narcotic Enforcement Team (BNET) along with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department – Special Investigation Bureau (SIB) investigated a murder-for-hire plot involving Earl Joseph Gomez, 47, from Blythe.

The investigation determined that Gomez attempted to solicit a co-conspirator to have two persons murdered for money. Gomez was subsequently arrested for two counts of attempted murder and attempt to solicit to commit murder and booked into the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Indio Jail.

Anyone with information about this case is urged to call Deputy Ned Hyduke at the Colorado River Station, 760-921-7900.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.


BNET is a multi-agency narcotic task force participated in by law enforcement agencies in the Blythe, Palo Verde Valley area. BNET's primary mission is to disrupt narcotic sales and diminish the availability of those drugs, thereby increasing public safety. Citizens are encouraged to report drug activity or information that could lead into the arrest of subjects involved with any criminal activity.
