Motorcycle Accident on Barnard

BLYTHE, Calif On Saturday April 5 at about 9:16 in the evening, officers of the Blythe Police Department responded to a reported injury traffic collision involving a motorcycle in the 1000 block of East Barnard.

Officers of the Blythe Police Department responded, along with members of the Blythe Volunteer Fire Department, and Blythe Ambulance Service.

The driver, is identified as Kevin McGinnis, of Blythe. McGinnis was driving a 1989 Yamaha east bound on Barnard at the time of the collision. He believed that the roadway continued east to Highway 95 and was surprised by the fence at the end of the dead end road. When he braked, it caused the motorcycle to fall to its side and slide through the fence at the end of the roadway.

Due to the extent of injuries, a medical transport helicopter was called in, and landed on the roadway adjacent to the collision scene. McGinnis was transported by helicopter to a trauma unit for further treatment.

The investigation in this case is ongoing, the cause of the collision, including whether alcohol might have been a factor, remains under investigation.
