Millie Rodriguez New PVCC Board President

BLYTHE, Calif – Millie Rodriguez, who recently won Palo Verde Community College (PVCC) District Board of Trustees re-election in November, now heads the PVC District Board of Trustees after being voted the new board President on Tuesday, December 18.

Dr. George Thomas was voted as Vice President. Ted Arneson will serve as Clerk of the board while board newcomer Ned Hyduke will service as School Board Representative. PVC Interim President/CEO Denise Whitaker will serve as Secretary to the Board as is customary for the college president.

Former Board President Ed Gonzalez, Trustee Jerry Lewis, and Student Trustee Frannie Gregory all remain on the board.

All elections for the positions happened at the regularly scheduled meeting held at the main campus on One College Drive.

Ms. Rodriguez held the position of Vice President of the board and Mr. Lewis was the Clerk until Tuesday’s meeting.


About the Palo Verde Community College District Board of Trustees

The Palo Verde Community College District Board of Trustees is composed of seven members elected to serve four-year terms. Five of the trustees are elected at large from the part of the District in Riverside County. Two of the trustees are elected at large from the part of the District in San Bernardino County.

The terms of trustees are staggered with elections in odd numbered years. In addition, there is a Student Trustee who is elected by the District's students. The Board of Trustees has responsibility for setting policy, overseeing fiscal stability, and establishing an effective educational program for the students and the community.

The Board meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. The first meeting of each month is a study session.

The Board's business meeting is scheduled for the 4th Tuesday of the month unless some national holiday conflicts with the meeting day of if the Board of Trustees elects to change the date.
