November 29, 2012

BLYTHE, Calif – On Tuesday November 27 at 9:33 in the morning Blythe Police responded to Patty’s Bar and Grill in the 1500 block of East Hobsonway, after getting notified that someone had broken the front windows with a bat. Multiple witnesses in the area, including an on-duty City of Blythe Code Enforcement Officer, reported that a man identified as Christopher Peters, age 40, of Blythe was the culprit.

After breaking the windows, Peters sped away in a truck. The Code Enforcement Officer followed Peters’ truck, and kept responding police officers advised of its location. Peters stopped in the 400 block of North Eighth Street, where he was contacted by police. When Peters exited his vehicle he was holding a bat in his hand, but complied with officer’s orders to drop it. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The business owner said she believes the vandalism was a result of a prior family dispute. There was no one at the business at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported. Peters was booked at the Blythe Jail for Felony Vandalism.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
