Jeffrey Watts Arrested for Burglary of Construction Site

December 27, 2012

BLYTHE, Calif – On Tuesday December 25, Christmas, at 7:13 PM, Blythe Police responded to a burglary at a residence that was still under construction in the 3400 block of Riverside Drive. When Officers arrived, they contacted the owner of the residence who related that he and a family member had driven by the residence, a short time earlier, and saw a vehicle parked in the driveway. As he approached, the vehicle left at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was described as early 2000’s model sedan, possibly beige in color.

At the same time, the owner saw a pickup truck leaving the rear of the residence at a high rate of speed. The pickup drove onto an adjacent canal bank, and attempted to flee. The owner followed the pickup, until it was forced to stop at a dead end. The owner called 9-1-1, and deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded. The driver of the pickup, identified as Jeffrey Watts, age 31, of Blythe, was detained.

Blythe Police Officers checked the residence, and found signs of forced entry. The owner reported some electrical hardware, that had not yet been installed, was missing from the residence. Officers followed the route Watts had taken, and found the missing items. The items appeared to have been thrown from the vehicle while Watts was fleeing. All of the missing property was recovered.

Watts was arrested, and booked into the Blythe Jail for Burglary. The second vehicle is still being sought in connection with this case.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
