Halby’s Window Rocked to Steal $60 Shoes

June 12, 2012

BLYTHE, Calif – On Thursday June 7 at about 8:00 in the morning Blythe Police was called to Halby’s Store for Men on West Hobsonway, regarding a broken front window.

The window that was broken was a front display window. A check of a surveillance video from the area showed a male and a female walking by the business in the early morning hours. The male was seen throwing a rock through the window and then reaching in to take a pair of shoes. The male subject then ran from the area. The shoes were valued at $60.00.

During the investigation the suspect was identified as Ocean Goodnow, 18, of Blythe. He was then located the next afternoon at the Joe Wine Recreational Center on Main Street wearing the stolen shoes. Goodnow was arrested for Burglary and Possession of Stolen Property. He was booked at the Blythe Jail.

Having a surveillance system in your home or business is a great way to assist law enforcement in solving crimes, said Chief Steve Smith. “Surveillance systems have come down in price, they are a great deterrent to crime, and if the suspects do complete the crime we can solve it much faster,” Smith said.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Anyone with information about this or any criminal activity is urged to contact the Blythe Police Department at (760) 922-6111. Information can be given anonymously by calling (760) 921-CARE.
