Graffiti Criminal Caught

Witness Paid $100

October 18, 2012

BLYTHE, Calif On Saturday October 13, at 10:08 in the morning, Blythe Police responded to the alley in the 500 Block of Eucalyptus, after being notified by a resident that a dumpster was being defaced with graffiti.

Three suspects had walked away, but were later stopped by officers in the area. The witness assisted officers with a positive identification of one the suspects who had defaced the property. He was identified as a 17 year old male from Blythe and was taken into custody. His case is being submitted to Juvenile Probation and charges will be filed for Vandalism.

Because of his assistance, the witness became eligible for the newly instituted Graffiti Bounty program. On October 16 this witness received the first $100 dollar payout for information leading to the identification and arrest of a subject or subjects committing and act of graffiti. We thank the witness for their willingness to make our community a better place, and are happy to reward them for their involvement.

Several local businesses have already donated to the Graffiti Bounty fund, and their support is greatly appreciated.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Anyone with information regarding this case, or any other crime, is urged to contact the Blythe Police Department at 922-6111 or they can give their information anonymously by calling Crime Stop at 921-CARE (2273) or by E-Mail.
