DUI Collision at Riviera Drive Exit

July 23, 2012

BLYTHE, Calif – On Thursday July 12 at about 10:17 p.m., officers from the Blythe Police Department responded to the area of East Hobsonway and the Port of Entry regarding a possible roll-over traffic collision. Officer arrived on scene and discovered it was a multiple vehicle traffic collision, not a roll-over traffic collision.

One of the vehicles involved in the traffic collision was a gold colored Mercedes. The driver of that vehicle was identified as 24 year-old, Sarah Hubbard. Officers at the scene were able to determine that Hubbard was driving her car westbound and exited the I-10 freeway at the Riviera Drive exit. Hubbard exited the freeway at a high rate of speed and struck two Semi-trucks with trailers that were parked near the Riviera Drive exit.

After conducting their traffic accident investigation, officers determined that Hubbard caused this collision by operating a motor-vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and driving at an excessive speed for roadway conditions. Hubbard was arrested at the scene later booked into the Riverside County Jail.

This case will be sent to the District Attorney’s Office for continued prosecution.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
