DUI Checkpoint Nets 1 Arrest & Several Citations

BLYTHE, Calif – On Tuesday July 3 at about eight in the evening, officers from the California Highway Patrol and officers from the Blythe Police Department conducted a DUI Checkpoint in the 500 Block of East Hobsonway.

During the operation approximately 179 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. The drivers’ of the vehicles were then screened for symptoms of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Two Field Sobriety Tests were conducted and one person was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol. A total of eight citations were issued for various other traffic offenses including, two citations for driving without a license, two citations for not wearing a seatbelt, two citations for driving with expired registration, and two citations for not having a drivers license in possession while operating a motor vehicle.

The funds for the checkpoint were provided by a grant from the “Office of Traffic Safety/Avoid the 30 Program.”
