Couple From Blythe Arrested in Mesa Verde Murder

BLYTHE, Calif On August 7, 2012, about 7:10 A.M., deputies from the Colorado River Station responded to a reported "man down" call in the 14000 block of Orange Drive, in the unincorporated area of Riverside County known as Mesa Verde in Blythe. The body of a male, later identified as 67-year-old Henry James Holmes of Blythe, was found at the location. He was pronounced dead at the scene and the area was secured.

Investigators from the Colorado River Station and the Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed control of the investigation. After reviewing video surveillance, Colorado River Station personnel recognized the two persons of interest on the video. They were identified as Michael Reed McBeth, a 23- year-old Blythe transient, and his girlfriend, Aretha Tashawn Lidy, a 20-year-old Blythe resident.

Investigators located Michael McBeth and Aretha Lidy at an apartment complex in the 400 block of North Palm in Blythe. They were brought in for questioning and further investigation regarding the incident. At the conclusion of the interview, Michael McBeth and Aretha Lidy were arrested and booked into the Blythe jail for robbery and murder.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
