Charles Herrera Arrested for Vandalism

December 27, 2012

BLYTHE, Calif – On Thursday, December 27, at 1:28 A.M., a Blythe Police Sergeant was patrolling in the area of Third and Rice Streets, after getting a report of dogs barking in the area. As he passed, he saw a man attempting to hide in the alleyway between Third and Fourth Streets so he returned to the alley from the opposite direction, and contacted the man who he identified as Charles Herrera, age 20, of Blythe.

Since there was paint on the man’s hands, patrol units begin searching for fresh graffiti in the area. Several locations with fresh graffiti vandalism were found, which matched the paint on Herrera’s hands. Defaced buildings included three apartments, the City of Blythe Recreation Center, two vacant buildings, as well as a dumpster enclosure for a local restaurant.

Herrera was arrested and booked into the Blythe Jail for felony Vandalism.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Anyone with information regarding this case, or any other crime, is urged to contact the Blythe Police Department at 922-6111 or they can give their information anonymously by calling Crime Stop at 921-CARE (2273) or by E-Mail.
