Burglary at the Elks’ Lodge

August 16, 2012

BLYTHE, Calif – On Wednesday August 15 at 1:26 A.M., officers of the Blythe Police Department located an unoccupied vehicle parked next to the rear of the Elks’ Lodge. Officers checked the vehicle, and could see a large commercial size box of toilet tissue and a case of beer in the vehicle. As officers began checking the area, they heard breaking glass coming from the rear patio of the Elks Lodge. A perimeter was established and officers approached the location.

When Officers were able to access the patio area, they encountered a woman identified as Belladora Williams, age 18, of Blythe. She was detained without incident. There were several boxes and crates containing alcoholic beverages, which appeared to have been removed from the Elks’ Lodge.

Additional officers entered the Elks’ Lodge, and conducted a search of the building. During the search, a male, identified as Nigel Camargo, age 23, of Blythe, was found hiding inside. Camargo refused to comply with officers’ directions and resisted the officers’ attempts to take him into custody. Camargo was subdued with the use of a Taser, and taken into custody without further incident.

Evidence located at the scene and on Camargo’s tied Camargo and Williams to the Burglary and the vehicle found in the alley.

Both Williams and Camargo were booked into the Blythe Jail for Burglary. The value of the property recovered was estimated to be between four and five thousand dollars.

This is proactive policing said Chief Smith “I am very proud of these fine officers for being alert and proactive otherwise this burglary may have gone unsolved.”

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
