Blythe Laundry & Cleaners Robbed

December 7, 2012

BLYTHE, Calif – On Thursday, December 6, at 8:33 in the morning, Blythe Police responded to Blythe Laundry & Cleaners at 100 S 3rd St regarding a robbery. The investigation revealed that a subject entered the business minutes before, and brandished a small pistol at the female clerk. The suspect demanded money, and the clerk turned over the small amount of currency that was in the register.

The suspect then ordered the clerk out from behind the counter and out the front of the business with him. The suspect hid the gun in his jacket, and forced the clerk to walk south on Third Street and then east on Rice with him. On Rice Street, the clerk saw an opening, and ran away north bound. The suspect fled running south bound on Third Street. “We are very thankful that the victim was not injured in this incident,” said Chief Steve Smith, “the victim was very brave, and we commend her for doing all the right things, this must have been very traumatic for her.”

The suspect was described as a dark complexioned Black male, approximately 5 foot 8 inches tall and 180-200 pounds, wearing a light blue jacket and dark pants.

Officers searched the area, and located one possible suspect. However, an infield show-up quickly confirmed the subject’s innocence.

Physical evidence from the scene is being processed in an attempt to identify the suspect, and several investigative leads from the public are being followed up on.
