Battery Disposal at City Hall

June 19, 2012

BLYTHE, Calif City Hall is now an authorized collector of used, household batteries. In an effort to protect the environment, household batteries can now be dropped off at City Hall for proper disposal.

Batteries contain heavy toxic metals and chemicals. If not disposed of properly, batteries will corrode and release their toxins. Types of batteries that may be taken to City Hall include alkaline, rechargeable, heavy duty, and those from cell phones and camcorders. NO car, boat, or motorcycle batteries, just household batteries.

To prevent shorting, positive contacts are to be taped prior to drop off. This free battery disposal service is sponsored by the City of Blythe and CR&R Disposal
