Attempted Rape / Spousal Battery

BLYTHE, Calif On Friday, 09-15-12, about 2:57 P.M., Colorado River Station deputies responded to the 5700 block area of Colorado River Road regarding a 911 call from a resident who stated there was a woman walking and crying in the area. This area is a residential community located in the unincorporated area of Riverside County.

The caller added that the woman appeared to have an injury that was bleeding. Deputies arrived and located the victim walking on Colorado River Road. The victim told deputies that her boyfriend had just assaulted her. Deputies obtained the name and address of the suspect prior to transporting the victim to the hospital for medical treatment.

Deputies contacted and later detained Brent Colbert Jr., age 44 from Blythe, at his residence in the 5700 block area of Colorado River Road.

The investigation revealed that Colbert had attempted to rape the victim during the assault. Colbert was booked into the Blythe Jail for attempted rape and spousal battery.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
