Accident Sends Car Into Canal

BLYTHE, Calif On Friday August 31 at about 7:27 A.M. Blythe Police responded to a traffic collision that involved a vehicle going into the canal adjacent to Defrain Blvd. north of 6th Avenue.

When Officers arrived they found a white 2007 Saturn Aura, which had entered the Palo Verde Irrigation District canal, and was now submerged. They contacted the driver and sole occupant, identified as Rachael Linarez, 36, of Blythe. Linarez had minor injuries which did not require medical treatment at the scene.

Linarez reported she was driving southbound on Wells Road, at a speed above the posted speed limit. The vehicle hit some loose gravel on the roadway, and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle continued into the canal. Linarez was able to get out of the vehicle, and out of the canal.

The vehicle was pulled from the canal and towed from the scene.
