4th of July Holiday Patrol

BLYTHE, Calif During the upcoming July 4th Holiday and following weekend, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department will be conducting active patrol in the unincorporated areas of the Riverside County as well as the Colorado River. Deputies would like to remind the public of the following laws and ordinances:

Harbors and Navigations Code: Within 100 feet of a bather/swimmer the speed limit is 5 mph. Within 200 feet of a beach frequented by bathers/swimmers, swimming float, diving platform and any dock is 5 mph.

Riverside County Fireworks Ordinance: No person shall have in his or her possession, or keep, store, use, shoot, discharge, set off, ignite, explode, manufacture, sell, offer to sell, give transport any fireworks, dangerous fireworks, or safe and sane fireworks, except for use as agricultural and wildlife fireworks or for use in a public display of fireworks pursuant to a permit obtained under the provisions of Sections 12640-12654 of the California Health and Safety Code, Article 78 of the Riverside County Fire Code (Riverside County Ordinance No. 787.2) and this chapter.

Health and Safety Code: It is unlawful for any person to possess dangerous fireworks without holding a valid permit.

Deputies will take enforcement action as necessary to ensure a safe Holiday for all residences and visitors of the Palo Verde Valley. Anyone observing unsafe boating or illegal use of fireworks can report that activity to the Sheriff's Department at (760) 921-7900.
